Safety During Training
Safety is the highest priority during behavioural training to ensure the well-being of both the dog, the owner, and the trainer. The following safety procedures and guidelines are designed in accordance with Swedish legislation, including the Animal Welfare Act (2018:1192) and the Act on the Supervision of Dogs and Cats (2007:1150). These rules are mandatory to follow to ensure a safe and effective training environment.
Follow My Instructions
To ensure safe training, it is crucial that you, as the dog owner, follow my instructions carefully. If safety procedures or instructions are not adhered to, I reserve the right to immediately terminate the training without a refund.
Maintain a Safe Distance
A safety distance should be maintained between the dog, myself, and any other dogs, including my own training dog. This prevents unwanted confrontations and helps create a calm environment.
Home Visits
During home visits, the dog should not be allowed to approach me until I have given my approval. This reduces the risk of unsafe situations for both you and your dog.
Use of Leash and Harness
The dog should always be on a secure leash and harness. It is important to use a harness that the dog cannot escape from.
Safe Equipment
Ensure that all equipment, including collars, harnesses, and leashes, is in good condition and appropriate for your dog’s size and strength. Regularly check the equipment to prevent the dog from escaping.
Use of Muzzle
If your dog has previously bitten or shown risk behaviours, the use of a secure muzzle is required during training. If you need assistance in getting your dog used to wearing a muzzle, I provide guidance to do this in a positive and safe manner.
Ask If Unsure
If you are unsure about any part of the training or safety procedures, do not hesitate to ask questions. It is always better to ask once too often than to risk an unsafe situation.
Training Interruption
Training can be interrupted if:
My instructions or safety procedures are not followed.
The dog owner uses aversive methods, such as physical punishment, fear-based techniques, or other unethical handling of the dog.
The equipment is inadequate or unsafe.
If training is interrupted due to the above reasons, no refund will be provided. This is to protect the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
Responsibility and Legal Guidelines
As a dog owner, you have a legal responsibility under the Act on the Supervision of Dogs and Cats (2007:1150) to prevent your dog from causing harm or discomfort to others. In the case of incidents where safety procedures have not been followed, you may be held responsible for any damage that occurs.
Thank You for Your Cooperation
By following these safety procedures, you contribute to a safe and successful training experience for both you and your dog. Together, we work to create a positive and harmonious daily life.
